Q: What do you see patients for?
A: Perimenopause and menopause: The emphasis in this clinic is on midlife care. This includes treating a wide variety of symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep issues, fatigue, weight changes, bone health and sexual health.
Hormonal disorders: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) can be treated as well.
Weight gain and obesity: Comprehensive weight loss management is offered to include discussion of nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral modifications. Additionally, medications may be indicated as part of your treatment plan. I prescribe oral and injectable weight loss medications.
Q: How does this work?
A: New patient visits are 60 minutes in length. You will receive an intake form to fill out prior to your visit so that I can review it before we meet. Follow up visits are usually scheduled 2-3 months after your initial visit to assess treatment and symptoms. Once you are feeling great, we can space that out to an annual visit. Charting is done through an electronic medical record system, and records can always be sent to your primary care physician or your gynecologist. Prescriptions will be sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, and my EMR integrates with Clinical Labs of Hawaii and Quest Diagnostics.
Q: What type of HRT do you prescribe?
A: I prescribe FDA approved hormone therapy. This includes bio-identical hormones (such as Estradiol and Progesterone). This means that they are medications that have the same molecular structure as the hormones made by your body.
Q: Do you prescribe weight loss medications?
A: At your visit we will discuss nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral modifications. Additionally, medications can be an important part of weight loss and may be indicated for your treatment. I prescribe oral and injectable weight loss medications.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: I do not accept insurance. This is a cash pay practice. I am happy to provide a billing summary for you after your visit if this is helpful to you.
Q: Can I be seen in person?
A: I own a gynecology clinic on Maui called Maui Lani Physicians and Surgeons. We do accept insurance at this practice. If you are on the island of Maui, you are welcome to see me there in person, but Pacific Menopause is a separate entity from MLPS.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We totally understand, things come up and unforeseen things happen. But, we also ask that you be considerate of our preparation for your visit, and cancel >48 hours prior to your visit. If this is not possible, you will be charged a $75 cancellation fee. You can also reschedule your clinic visit online if you need to change your appointment.
